Ventilation & Airflow

Practical ventilation advice and improvements for condensation, mould, stale air, poor extraction and moisture problems.

When ventilation needs checking

Poor ventilation often shows up as condensation, mould, stale air, musty smells or moisture that never seems to clear.

Condensation on windows

Streaming windows can indicate high humidity, poor extraction, poor background ventilation or cold surfaces.

Recurring black mould

Mould often grows where moisture, cold surfaces and poor airflow meet — especially bedrooms, bathrooms and corners.

Stale or musty rooms

Poor airflow can make rooms feel stale, damp, humid or uncomfortable, especially in winter.

Cause-first advice

Ventilation is not just “open a window”

Opening windows can help sometimes, but it is not a proper strategy for every home, every room, every season or every tenant.

We look at how moisture is created, how it is removed, where air moves, and whether the property has enough effective extraction and background airflow.

Photo Space 1

Insert a ventilation inspection photo

Good for: extractor fan, air vent, airflow meter, bathroom ceiling, kitchen extraction or condensation photo.

What we may check

Airflow has to be suitable for the building

A ventilation problem can be caused by weak extractor fans, blocked vents, missing background ventilation, poor door undercuts, cold surfaces, lifestyle moisture, or simply a system that was never designed properly.

We look for practical causes and sensible improvements rather than pretending one magic fan fixes every house.

Simple principle

If moisture is created faster than the property can remove it, condensation and mould risk goes up. The solution is usually controlled airflow, not guesswork.

Photo Space 2

Insert an extractor fan photo

Good for: bathroom fan, kitchen fan, humidistat fan, ducting, grille or airflow test.

Photo Space 3

Insert a whole-house airflow photo

Good for: PIV unit, landing diffuser, loft installation, air vent or condensation improvement result.
